Mar Gaye Oye loko by Gippy Grewal will be a milestone in Punjabi movie industry

Punjabi Cinema or Pollywood has a huge fan following in United Kingdom, and more recently, it has also become extremely popular in other parts of the country. Punjabi cinema has seen a revival with more releases every year with bigger budgets, homegrown stars, and Bollywood actors in lead roles.

After the hit Carry On Jatta 2 , Gippy Grewal has turned his hands to produce another blockbuster, Mar Gaye Oye Loko which releases on 31st august. We had the privilege to attend the special world premier on the 29th august along side Punjabi superstar Gippy Grewal

Mar Gaye Oye Loko satirically looks at death and the afterlife. If you have wondered what happens in heave Mar Gaye Oye Loko will give you a glimpse. It was quite clear that Gippy had done a lot of research into this topic before he wrote the film because I remember my mum saying there are ghosts and witches.

Although a serious topic I found the humor was natural and gelled with the story line. I still remember a number of dialogues that I could identify with in real life like “pani naal engine de garare karonee “ or when Titu says I can slap a ghost –

The movie makes excellent use of the common utterances and transforms them into brilliant lines that will surely make your stomach ache with laughter . I still have a smile on my face thinking back on the scenes which will stay with me for a long time.

The story was unique didn’t drag and left you with a personal message about life. Every actor has been selected to suit their role and each performance was near perfect. Jaswinder Bhalla in my opinion steals the show with his stealer interpretation of the head death angle.

Mar Gaye Oye Loko has 6 tracks in total – Aaja ni aaja is sung by Punjabi sensation Guru Randhawa, a romantic love song and the film title track Mar Gaye Oye Loko is sung by Golden star Malkit Singh. So High by Sidhu Moose wala also features along with Fuel a track sung by Gippy Grewal himself. Gippy has also used Rabba Ve by Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan a touching ballard. Mithade Bol is sung by Karamjit Anmol

Gippy Grewal has clearly give a lot of thought to the topic and screen play which has resulted in a likable funny film with a a positive universal message 10/10 for brilliant effort.
