T-SERIES REMOVES ATIF ASLAM & RAHAT SONGS FROM YOUTUBE

T-Series pulls down Pakistani Singers’ songs from its YouTube channel

Following the recent terrorist attack in Pulwama of Jammu Kashmir on Thursday in which 40 CRPF jawans were killed, Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series has pulled down all the songs from their YouTube channel that were sung by Pakistani singers after Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), on Saturday, asked all the music companies to stop working with Pakistani artists.

An Indian record label T-Series has decided to remove all songs on its YouTube channel that were sung by Pakistani artists, depriving millions of fans from listening to their favorite hits.

Recently, Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series had collaborated with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Atif Aslam for two different singles.

Pakistani singer Atif Aslam’s new song named ‘Baarishein’ was released on the channel recently, which has now been removed.

“We have verbally communicated to Indian music companies like T-Series, Sony Music, Venus, Tips Music etc to not work with Pakistani singers. These companies should stop it immediately or we will take action in our own style,” Amey Khopkar, head of the MNS Chitrapat Sena said

This is a troubling development, as T-Series’ Bhushan Kumar had partnered with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Atif Aslam to produce two new songs.

Following the recent attacks, a lot of Indian celebrities are calling off collaborations with Pakistan. Artists like Shabana Azmi and Javed Akhtar have canceled their commitments of visiting Pakistan and have also called for a ban on cultural exchanges between the two countries.

One hopes that artists should not become hostage to political whims as easily as required. But sadly, the world is hostage to nationalist and jingoistic perspectives that serve narrow aims. Pakistan and India deserve much better from their leaders.

Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry has said that Pakistan is taking action against the outlawed group and offered assistance to India in the investigation.
