Singer Mika Singh detained in Dubai over sexual harassment charges
According to reports, the singer was questioned by the police as a 17-year-old Brazilian girl had accused Mika Singh of sending her an inappropriate picture.
The singer was reportedly detained in wee hours on Thursday from Bur Dubai. It is learnt that Mika had gone to Dubai to perform at a Bollywood event.
He also promised her a job in a Bollywood movie, Gulf News reported quoting sources. The ‘Subah Hone Na De’ hitmaker was last seen on stage at a Bollywood awards ceremony followed by a performance at a private party.
Singh has sought consular access and the embassy staff is working on his case, Indian Ambassador to the UAE Navdeep Singh Suri was quoted as saying in the report. “Our team is at the police station. We are working on it,” he said.
This is not the first time that the singer has been facing charges of inappropriate behaviour. He has been accused of forcibly kissing the Bollywood’s controversial actress Rakhi Sawant.
Meanwhile, official sources in New Delhi said that Singh was detained at 3 AM and legal proceedings were being initiated against him. A media report said that he was held from a bar in Bur Dubai.
Indian pop singer Mika Singh was released on Thursday night following the intervention of the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, Navdeep Singh Suri, the Indian Ambassador to the UAE, told Gulf News.
He said Singh is expected to appear in a court later.
